BYOGnome
Build Your Own Gnome
Background Color:
BYOGnome is an experimental NFT project that aspires to bring innovation to the world of NFTs on Solana.
This mint program was crafted by 0xLarry8 and is open sourced here. This mint differs from traditional NFT mints...
How is this mint different?
* Build Your Own Mint (BYOMint): To mint a cNFT, you choose your own traits. The program creates a PDA with the chosen traits, ensuring there are no identical cNFTs.
* Minter Royalties: Traditionally, royalties go to the project. However, when you mint a BYOGnome, you become a verified creator and receive 50% of royalties from all secondary sales of the minted cNFT. Total secondary sales royalties are set at 5%, with 2.5% going to the minter and 2.5% to the project.
* Moving Supply and Mint Price: With over 50k unique Gnomes that can be minted, the program has an adjustable supply cap and mint price. We minted the initial supply of Gnomes is 1000 at 0.01 SOL. After the first 1000 Gnomes, the community helped dictate the supply and price moving forward: 4555 more gnomes at 0.01 SOL!
Metadata + Images (Helius Webhooks + ShdwDrive)
To create JSON metadata and images for each cNFT, a Helius Webhook listens for the mint instruction from the program. When a cNFT is minted, a serverless function is triggered, generating the Gnome's image and JSON metadata, which are then uploaded to ShdwDrive.
Bridge to Monad
Although the future of BYOGnomes is uncertain, I am certain that I will experiment with bridging these cNFTs to Monad (a new L1). Solana is, and will always be, home for me but Monad is promising some comperable specs in terms of speed/cost which I would like to explore. Since Monad's testnet is not live yet, I don't have any details about what this bridge will look like, or even if it feasable, but I would like to try it. Ultimately, as I said above, if there is a strong concensus from the community for or against the bridge, that is the direction BYOG will take.
BYOGnomes is an experimental project; there is no utility! Gnomes are not an investment vehicle, nor is there any promise of them increasing in value.
